JRB Plan

The Joint Retirement Board 403(b)(9) Retirement Plan is a defined contribution program for clergy and employees of synagogues, schools, and affiliated organizations of the Conservative Movement.

Under this self-directed plan, participants make contributions on a pre-tax basis, allowing them to lower their taxes and accumulate retirement savings on a tax-deferred basis.  The JRB Plan is designated as a “church plan,” which affords retired clergy the opportunity to continue their housing allowance in retirement.

Who Is Eligible

You are eligible to participate in the JRB Plan if you are:

  • Any employee of an affiliated congregation of The United Synagogue of Conservative Judaism or an affiliated employer of the Conservative Movement (e.g., Schechter Day School Network, Camp Ramah, Woman’s League for Conservative Judaism, etc.)
  • A member of either the Cantors Assembly or Rabbinical Assembly and employed as clergy, regardless of the type of employer
  • Self-employed clergy who is a member of the Cantors Assembly or Rabbinical Assembly
